16-Point Bow Kill Wins Digital Game Camera!
Talk about having it tough!
Our bowhunters fought warm temperatures, high winds, and a full moon the first week and late/slow rutting activity the second week though the moon came into a better position and the temperatures came down the second week.
The first group lost at least one good one on a very early A.M. shot - the second group tagged three bucks - saw lots of chasing, turkeys, a few Coyotes and lots of deer.
The rifle hunters, of which there were only two this year, never made it off the 190 Ac farm, shot and lost a large (unknown score) 10-pointer.
All things being equal, we had a 30% tag fill rate, and 80% either took a shot or had a trophy animal in kill range but did not finish the deal our first year in 2005.
The following are the highlights!
The Rifle hunters had better weather, and the rut was in full swing - lots of wandering and patrolling bucks - however snow and 18-Degree weather moved in with lows below zero at night ended the hunts a bit early for them.
